This was one of my first albums when I was a kid. I saw Adam Ant on TV and after that I was hooked. What stood out about that album was how distorted and rough the recording was; I remember reading one reviewer who said it sounded like they used paper cups and strings as sound equipment, or something to that effect.

Many, in fact most, musicians/bands consider the The Beatles' contribution to popular music to be singular - that is, artists like Sting, Led Zep, Brian May, Fleetwood Mac, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Crossby Stills Nash & Young, Roger Waters, etc, etc. You can include musicologists like Leonard Bernstein, Howard Goodall, Rick Beato, Allen Pollack, David Bennet, etc. Now if that's the industry opinion, i think this discussion is quite redundant. As for lay people engaged in this discussion it's a silly waste of time.

Flop? Magical Mystery Tour? "Despite widespread media criticism of the Magical Mystery Tour film, the soundtrack was a critical and commercial success. In the UK, it topped the EPs chart compiled by Record Retailer and peaked at number 2 on the magazine's singles chart (later the UK Singles Chart) behind "Hello, Goodbye". The album topped Billboard's Top LPs listings for eight weeks and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1969."

Yes love this topic so much! It drives me insane how watered down the talent is because of this. Could you also maybe do a video about how how social media is ruining music as well? I also feel like the instant fame thing happens also when someone gets famous over night for some Tik Tok video or some cover on UA-cam (ironic I know lol) without having to pay their dues. Dave grohl said it best nirvana had to go through years of sucking and playing in the garage then they finally made it. And I think we can all agree that nirvana made a much more meaningful impact on music than anyone who came out of these talent shows. We need real artists to wake us up and thrill us the way those people did. Also another point even when looking at the late 90s pop scene (back when I was a kid) Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, destiny’s child, Christina Aguilera, and others all lost star search and I think it’s safe to say that theses are some of the biggest names to ever hit pop music, and no one could even tell you who won star search that night

That is because all those bands you have mentioned has had a major cultural shift on the world musically, fashion wise, the way people act and behaved, drugs and were music innovators that is why people rave about them. I was like you once upon a time thinking its just oldheads force feeding us their era until I did proper research like watching interviews of that era, reading articles and listening to their music and they deserve the hype.
